The first installment of Steam Whistle Unsigned started with a bang - Toronto's Woodhands stepped up to the stage and blew the room away with their electro-punk assault. Their tune Dancer, featuring vocal interplay between Dan Werb and Maylee had the crowd jumping and hollering.

The second edition of Steam Whistle Unsigned veered in a more eclectic musical direction than our first show. Opening the night was indie-folk band the Houseplants. Hailing from Orangville their smooth sound set the stage for a great night. Next up was psychedelic rockers Faceless Lazers who brought a wall of guitars and epic instrumental jams.

Steam Whistle Unsigned #3 had a lot to live up to, following the success of the first two events and having been picked by EYE magazine as the weeks "Best Bet" (ranked even higher than Canadian Rock Icons Rush). Luckily the stellar line up was more than up for the challenge. London ON's Two Minute Miracles opened the night, playing Toronto for the first time in years.

Our first UNSIGNED show in Alberta was well received. Axis of Conversation, Vixen Tor and Light City Fiction, rocked the Palomino Bar in Calgary, leaving the crowd waiting anxiously for the next show.
MAY 30, 2008
On Friday May 30th the sixth in our ongoing Steam Whistle Unsigned Indie Concert Series rocked the Roundhouse. Starting things off on a sweet note were Montreal duo Hexes and Ohs', who's catchy indie/electro pop had the crowd captivated as Edmund and Heidi moved between instruments between and often during songs! Next up the boys from Bocce proceeded to explode with their highly addictive and danceable beats! The call and response chorus of Disco Juan is still echoing through the halls of the Brewery! Next up was Toronto's own Gravity Wave. Fronted by Kenneth Farrell, this indie orchestra took us on an multi-media tour of sights and sounds. Mixing matching outfits and interactive videos their set was one to remember!
Steam Whistle UNSIGNED is an ongoing concert series that exhibits Canada's musical talent, as well as helping to develop its future. Each edition of UNSIGNED features three Canadian artists and a DJ, with 100% of ticket sales from each show going to the Artists' Health Centre Foundation. These events have raised thousands of dollars for local artists to date. To bring these events together, Steam Whistle is teaming up with Pandor Productions, NOW Magazine, Gibson Guitars and CIUT.
